What is causing Anxiety and Panic Attacks - How to Stop Panic Attack?

What is the cause of anxiety an attack? Panic and anxiety attacks have become quite prevalent these days. Almost 18.3% of the adult population in the United States is affected by anxiety. These numbers are increasing all over the world and this problem requires some good attention. A panic attack affects teenagers as well as adults alike.

People blame anxiety attacks on stress, work pressure, too much of running around, environment and several other factors. However scientist believe there are two or three predominant factors that cause anxiety attacks.

The first one is the biochemistry of your brain. There are two neurotransmitters called serotonin and dopamine that affect your feelings and emotions. If there is any imbalance in these two elements then you could get an anxiety attack.

The second prime factor is hereditary factor. If your parents suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, the genes responsible for these attacks could get passed to children also. So if your mother or father had a imbalance in the chemicals serotonin and dopamine, then you may inherit this problem. Other than this if the social environment at home is tense and anxious this could lead to anxiety attacks in children when they grow up.

The third major factor is the fight or flight response. As per this theory, when you see a danger, you body prepares itself to either fight the danger or run away from it. A small part in the brain called the Amygdale triggers this mechanism. Sometimes the brain erroneously detects a danger and this result in an anxiety attack. Also at times the mechanism may not work properly and switch back to normal position after a threat or danger and even this can cause a panic attack. According to scientists the fight or flight factor is one of the main causes of anxiety and panic attacks.

This problem can be treated properly if it is found out early. Once it is found out, then the symptoms and triggers can be studied and solution can be developed to overcome panic attacks or even stop panic attacks.
